The Value of being in the room. An evening with Walpole.

There’s always something valuable about stepping away from the day-to-day and into a room full of people who think about luxury and luxury events in the same way. The recent Walpole event at The Balmoral in Edinburgh was exactly that. Bringing together brands, creatives, and industry peers, it felt less like formal networking and more like a natural exchange – conversations that moved easily between ideas, experiences, and shared challenges. The setting helped, of course. The Balmoral has that rare ability to feel both established and current at the same time. But more than anything, it’s the people that make these evenings worthwhile.

There’s a quiet energy in being surrounded by those who care about detail, about craft, about how something is delivered rather than just what it is. It’s a reminder that in this space, relationships still matter and the best opportunities tend to come from conversations that aren’t forced. I left with a few new connections, a few familiar faces, and a renewed sense of how important it is to stay close to the wider industry. Sometimes that’s all you need.
